ADS7846 Touch screen

So my LCD has a touch controller. I have hooked the screen back up to the free GPIO and am manually bitbanging the graphics so I could use the hardware SPI for the touch driver.
I have the ads7846.ko and an run it, but no input device appears.
I assume I am missing a step? how do I install the touch driver so it appears as an input and is working?
