WiFi rather slow and weak signal

I had some tries yesterday to get WiFi running (as a client to my WLAN) and this was a much longer experiment than expected. At first I thought my configs were wrong as I could not get any connection. In the end it turned out that WiFi reception of vocore is rather limited. Singal levels are way below other WiFi clients also located in my room. I guess this has to do with the chip antenna and RF being largely blocked/reflected as being surrounded by metal components of the vocore dock. I did not try with pure vocore chips (without the dock).
Do you also have this experience or does vocore work on par with other wifi clients in your household?
My wireless settings are rather standard. May be there are some options missing to give it a kick forward?

Hi, it is the openwrt 80211n driver issue, but for normal usage, the speed is enough.
If you want to reach full speed 73Mbps, have to use the close sourced MediaTek wireless driver.

Thanks for your reply. But speed is not my issue, I don't need much of it. What makes me trouble is that the connection does only come up stable when the vocore dock is oriented in a specific direction on my table. Otherwise even getting a client IP via DHCP and registering the DNS is failing on the vocore. Signal level is at about -66db, which is reasonable good imho.

Any ideas how to pimp WiFi reliability? As is I cannot build a product on this.
