AP+STA problem

Hi,
got my VoCore2 Ultimate today and tried to set it up. First I tried via WebUI and messed up something so had to connect via USB/Serial and scratch everything. Managed to flash firmware of 24.12.2016, followed at least 5 times the AP+STA tutorial but it really won't connect to my home AP.
Am I the only, one having this issue? Is it linked to the latest firmware releases or just my bad luck? Believe me, I followed the tutorial to the letter, both on the vocore site and also on Vonger's blog.
