Alternate OS Installation

New user here.
Can Vocore2 be booted to the Raspian OS (or some alternative OS), and if so, is there a tutorial or reference someone can point me to?
I am using a Pi3 to self-learn Linux-based OSes, and originally purchased my VoCore2 via Indiegogo because I was familiar with working with DD-WRT to modify my routers over a number of years.
