How to make Vocore2 SD Card Work?

Can someone here tell me how to make Vocore2 to recognize a plugged in micro SD card?
I have soldered on an SD card slot on my own self-made breakout board, but my running Vocore2 does not do anything when I plug in an SD card.
Do I need to do any additional software configuration in order to make the SD card recognized? My vocore2 is running the image of "20161224.bin".
