Vocore 2 Lite Wifi still Crashes. Help? Any updates?

Thu Aug 31, 2017 4:46 pm

Hi,

I'm trying to make a OpenVPN gateway from my Vocore 2 Lite, but the frequent Wifi crashes makes it impossible to do anything reliable with it.

So far I tried every compatible firmware I could find (The outdated Official one from http://vocore.io/v2.html, and the LEDE one from https://lede-project.org/toh/hwdata/voc ... core2_lite). None seems to make the Wifi work properly. The official one is painfully slow (2Mbit peak transfer) with random disassociation, while the LEDE one seems to work faster (21Mbit peak transfer) but has the same disassociation issues, including a frequent Kernel Panic that leaves the system in a limbo like state, where it cannot connect to the Wifi anymore till I restart the device.

After several months, so far I haven't seen any intentions from the creator of Vocore2 (Vonger) to do something about it and update the firmware to something that is hopefully stable (Or am I missing out something?).

How is it looking for the Vocore 2 (Non-Lite) users? Is it more stable? Is there any anouncements for any updates for the buggy firmwares? Any workarounds to make the Vocore 2 Lite's Wifi more stable? Any input on this from Vonger?

P.D: Here is the kernel panic log, in case somebody has an idea what is going wrong:

Use mediatek openwrt wifi driver or the one from vocore.io, or submit patch to mt76 driver develop at github, the mt76 driver for LEDE is opensource but very unstable, I have said that many times in my blog.

Hi @Vonger.
The WiFi with the original Vocore 2 Lite firmware (http://vonger.cn/misc/vocore2/20170211L.bin) is not very stable eider and is very slow.

Can you tell how to install the mediatek openwrt wifi driver in LEDE? Or can you share the firmware you've made with the mt7628.ko in it from your blog (http://vonger.cn/?p=14318)?
