OUI/MAC Registration

Sat Feb 23, 2019 6:01 pm

Hi All,

I have a VoCore2 based device and noticed the MAC shows up as no vendor. The MAC for my unit is ba:d8:12:00:42:35. Looking that up shows no OUI.

Doing some googling, I found this: http://vonger.cn/?p=896 which appears to be the OUI registration for Vonger with IEEE. However, that OUI is b8:d8:12... where mine is ba:d8:12... Is this just a typo in the VoCore2 firmware?

For reference, here's the lookup tool (not sure why it's showing as IEEE Registration Authority): https://aruljohn.com/mac/B8D812

I'm not 100% sure that OUIs must be registered for commercial products, but it would be good to get this fixed so there's no chance of accidental collision (if IEEE registers ba:d8:12 to another company, there's a chance of collision).

Thanks!

How would I do this? Seems like this would be a firmware issue (and also likely not a one time error...).

Thanks!

1. call 'cp /dev/mtd2 /tmp/mtd2'
2. then copy /tmp/mtd2 to your local disk.
3. edit it with some editor that can edit raw data, such as qtcreator
4. modify all the wrong mac address(should be three at 0x04, 0x28, 0x2e)
5. upgrage firmware to 20190218.bin
6. copy mtd2 back to /tmp in vocore
7. call 'mtd write /tmp/mtd2 factory' or 'mtd write /tmp/mtd2 /dev/mtd2'
8 call 'hexdump -C /dev/mtd2' to make sure it write correctly.

Return to VoCore2/Lite/Ultimate
