non-Wifi Dock version

Mon Nov 24, 2014 5:32 pm

Following on from this post viewtopic.php?f=9&t=30

I have the Dock version of Vocore and I've also managed to break the WIFI AP in the exact same way as the original post. I found the USB to TTL guide suggested in the original thread, however the dock version has those holes used by the connectors for the Dock.

Would I have to unsolder the connector to connect the USB to TTL adapter in order to regain access or is there a way to access Vocore through the USB provided by Dock?

Apologies for using the wrong words, I'm new to all of this :)

Thanks, Caius.

Hi, the hole for the UARTLite is not used by dock.
http://vocore.io/wiki/index/id:7, It is GPIO 15 and GPIO 16.
http://vocore.io/wiki/index/id:14, this wiki shows you how to connect to it.

Also, the dock is not soldered to VoCore, it's on a socket, you can remove it ( just be careful about the heat paste on the ethernet port )

Thanks for he advice, I realised they were sockets so I attempted to lift the dock from vocore, I ended up snapping the Ethernet casing because the thermal paste is more like super glue. Will report back once I've managed to wire the USB to TTL.

Okay, I've had a go at attaching the USB-TTL to the VoCore. I didn't want to solder so I used jumper cables and a breadboard. I've left the dock attached and I've attached both :

VoCore.RXD2 => USB_TTL.TXD
VoCore.TXD2 => USB_TTL.RXD

And the USB-TTL seems to get powered by the USB port. However I connect to the serial using Kermit with no issues but the vocore doesn't seems to show the boot message It's reported to show :

Code: Select all
U-Boot for VoCore(based on RT5350)..
Version: May 30 2014 20:52:36

Press 'x' to console...

Any ideas on what I've doing wrong / missing?

Thanks, Caius.

The USB2TTL's GND must connect with VoCore's GND. Or the data transfer will broken.

Return to VoCore & VoCore+Dock
